The Annual Meeting will be held on September 1, 2020, at 8 p.m., an hour after the regularly scheduled town board meeting. The meeting was postponed from its normal date because of the COVID 19 public health emergency. We wll mail or e-mail the treasurer’s report to anyone who requests it (requests to the clerk at the town hall, montrose@chorus.net or 608-424-3848).
There will be no refreshments, masks are required, and we will maintain social distancing for the meeting.

As of this morning, there have been 196 absentee ballots issued to Town of Montrose voters – a hair more than 25% of our 765 registered voters. Already an impressive turnout.
You can still request a mailed absentee ballot (until Thursday, August 6, at 5 p.m.). For all voters with Belleville or Verona addresses, ballots will go the next day to the local post office for inclusion with the local mail. For voters with Oregon & New Glarus addresses, at this point you may want to consider in person absentee voting at the Town Hall – which is available through Friday August 7, from 10 to noon and from 2 to 4. You can also call the clerk to make an appointment outside of those hours.
You can apply any time for a mailed absentee ballot for the general election in November, and please, please do so. Just go to myvote.wi.gov, or call, email or text the clerk. Call/text: 608-424-3848. E-mail: montrose@chorus.net
In person absentee voting will be available at the Town Hall on weekdays from 10:00 a.m. through noon; and 2 p.m. through 4 p.m. starting Monday, July 27 and continuing until Friday August 7, except for the morning of July 31. No appointment is needed. Masks are required. Voting will be in the large room at the hall to protect the health of staff and voters alike. Doors will be kept locked, and voters admitted one household at a time at the front door.
There is still time to have absentee ballots mailed; we urge voters to consider this option.

If you haven’t already done so, now is a great time to go on myvote.wi.gov to request that an absentee ballot be sent to you both for the partisan primary on August 11, and for the general election in November.
If you have any trouble at all with the system, call or text the town clerk at 608-424-3848 for help or an alternate method of making the request. It is much easier to issue ballots efficiently if requests are made earlier rather than later. Months ahead of time is great; at least 5 or 6 weeks ahead of time is very good. We have made a great start. As of today 22% (165) of our registered voters (766) have requested and been mailed ballots for the August primary. The more of us who get mailed ballots, the safer election day will be for our intrepid election inspectors, and for all in person voters, so please keep those absentee requests coming.
There will be no Land Use Committee meeting in February, as no applications for action were received by July 13, 2020.

Now would be a good time to double check on your absentee voting application. The easiest way is to look yourself up on myvote.wi.gov. If you have no application on file for the upcoming elections this year (August 11 partisan primary; November 3 presidential), you can go ahead and apply there. Many people who voted absentee in April requested absentee ballots only for that election, and may be unaware that they may need to submit another application for the rest of the elections this year.
Paper applications are also available at the town hall. There is a supply on the main door, so if you have a friend or neighbor who is not at ease with the online process, you can swing by the town hall and pick up a application. The Special Town Board meeting which was scheduled for July 3, 2020 at 4:30 p.m. is changed to July 2, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.
