April 6, 2021 Spring Election

Election Day is April 6, 2021. Vote that day at the Montrose Town Hall in Paoli any time between 7 am and 8 pm.  The races are for State Superintendent of Public Instruction, County Executive, and the various school boards in the township.  Up for election, unopposed, are several Dane County judges and the members of township government.

Mail in absentee ballots can be requested through myvote.w.gov any time through March 31, 2021; but ask earlier rather than later – any ballot not returned to the town hall by 8 pm on April 6 cannot be counted.  So far 77 ballots have been mailed and 7 returned.

In person absentee voting.  You can come to the town hall any weekday from Tuesday March 23 through Friday, April 1; from 10 am to noon or 2 pm to 4 pm.  If none of those times work for you, just call or text 608-424-3848 to make an appointment for some other time.

Remy Road Bridge resurfacing project

The Remy Road bridge will be resurfaced this spring.  Currently the anticipated start date is March 29, 2021 with completion anticipated to be completed by May 21, 2021.  The bridge will be re-decked, and will receive a new railing.

This is a project being undertaken jointly by the Village of Belleville and the Town of Montrose.  The Town has secured 70% funding from the State of Wisconsin under a Municipal State Agreement (MSA), which will help to offset the cost to the two municipalities.  The Village was instrumental in helping the Town obtain the funding.

Remodeling update

We have continued progress to report.  After the teardown of the ceiling, the hall has been re-wired, and now is set for next steps, which should be insulation and sheet rocking the ceiling.  The new ceiling will be about 2 feet higher than the old one, and the lighting will be dimmable LEDs.

Town Hall remodel going apace

The old dropped ceiling, its framework and the insulation are out and gone; and the framing for the new ceiling is installed.  This week the electrical work is moving right along.  We are on pace for our new safe, high and well lighted ceiling.

We have started the remodel

Nolden Construction started the repair of the main room of the town hall the day after the election.  They are moving rapidly – this photo is from day one of the job.
